Rise Fierce Weekend

What’s it all About?

This is your chance to immerse yourself in wild West Ireland, embrace the outdoors and blow away the cobwebs while stretching your body, calming your mind and soothing your soul. The Strength Temple X Rise Fierce three night retreat is co-created and hosted by Sophie Hellyer and Richie Norton. The retreat is open to anyone from total water sport beginners to salty old sea dogs.

The idea is pretty simple:
        • You arrive on Thursday 7th November, come down to the lodge and meet a group of new people.
        • Then get up on Friday, spend the day doing fun stuff like surfing, yoga, movement, breath work, hiking, wild swimming and eating local, organic, veggie food (whilst still having scheduled free time to relax and explore!)
        • If the weather allows we will have a bonfire in the evening and the general craic
        • Then get up on Saturday and do it all again.
        • The retreat ends Sunday morning but there will be the option of an extra nights accommodation for anyone who wants to stay til Monday

Main Activities

Surfing

The retreat includes one surf lesson (including the use of a wetsuit and board). The surfing equipment will then be available for you to use in your free time throughout the retreat. Cross beach is a perfect spot for learning and we’ll do everything we can to get you standing on your first wave. Experienced surfers also welcome!

Yoga, Movement and Breath Work

There will be daily Move and Flow vinyasa style and restorative yoga classes led by Sophie and Richie in the brand new yoga studio with its spectacular view

Hiking

We will definitely schedule in a good old coast jaunt so we have a chance to explore the area and see the views..

Wild Swimming

Sophie will be going for her daily #risefierce dip at the local beach in the free time. Everyone is welcome to join. It’s more floating or dipping than swimming and no wetsuits required (if you’re brave enough!).

Bonfire

We love a good bonfire and we’ll be sure to get one burning on one of the nights if the rain stays at bay… .

Thursday 
Those arriving by rail should be on the 14.45 Westport train and we’ll have a bus to meet you at Westport station on arrival.
Those arriving by plane should arrive into Knock Airport by 14:35 and we’ll have a bus to meet you at Knock Airport on arrival (there are 3 flights arriving from London, please let us know which flight you are on).
Those arriving by car, the postcode is F28 DA31 so we will see you whenever you arrive.
Check in anytime after 4.30pm.
Relax, take a walk and partake in a welcome drink and sweet treat with your fellow retreat participants
18.00  Opening Circle
18.30  Stretch and Relax Class – slow flow yoga after a days travelling
20.00  Dinner – delicious, healthy fare! Followed by arrival introduction chat to the weekend, the schedule and the area
Friday 
08.00  Move and Flow (60 minutes)
09:00  Delicious healthy breakfast buffet
10.30  Surf Lesson with or a free surf for more advanced surfers, location dependent on conditions.
13:30  Lunch – lots of yummy healthy food!
Free time – Options for sea swims, naps, more surfing or exploring the local area
18:00  Restorative Yoga with Richie and Sophie (90 minutes)
19:30  Dinner – more lovely homemade healthy food, followed by a delicious healthy dessert

Saturday 

08.00  Move and Flow (60 minutes)
09:00  Delicious healthy breakfast buffet
10:30  Coastal hike
13:30  Lunch – lots of yummy healthy food!
Free time – Options for sea swims, naps, surfing or exploring the local area
18.00  Restorative Yoga with Richie and Sophie (90 minutes)
19:30  Dinner – more lovely homemade healthy food, followed by a delicious healthy dessert

Sunday

08:00  Move and Flow and Closing Circle
09:00  Delicious healthy breakfast buffet
10:30  Free Time and Room Check-out for those leaving
11:30  Celebration Farewell Lunch
Those departing by plane will have the option of a transfer to Knock Airport leaving at 12.30 (arriving to Knock airport at approx 2pm).

What’s not included

  • Transport down. No problem for drivers and we’ve got a train & bus package for those non-drivers.
  • Alcoholic beverages – this is an alcohol free retreat but there are some great local pubs that we can guide you to and can also provide you with some taxi numbers.
  • Optional Sunday night stay (accommodation only) for those who prefer to leave Monday.

GETTING THERE

So there are three ways of getting down to us.

1. SELF DRIVE 

If you have your own car the address is BigStyle Atlantic Lodge, Killadoon, Co. Mayo, F28 DA31, Ireland. If you’re driving solo or have space in your car we’ll try to find you some other guests to carpool with.  The more people in each car the happier the environment. Once we know who’s going we can start putting plans together regarding this.

2. TRAIN & LIFT

You can take the train from Dublin to Westport and we can collect you from Westport train station and bring you straight to the lodge.

The transfer from Westport train station to the lodge costs €10 each way

From Dublin the plan would be:
Outgoing: Take the 14.45 train from Dublin Heuston to Westport on Thursday
Return: Take the 17.45 train from Westport to Dublin Heuston on the Sunday

The train usually costs €40 return and takes 3.5 hours

3. PLANE

You can fly into Knock Airport from London and we can collect you from Knock Airport and bring you straight to the lodge.

The transfer from Knock Airport to the lodge costs €30 each way

From London the plan would be:
Outgoing: Take the 13:00 from London Gatwick to Knock (or any earlier flight that arrives by this time)
Return: Take the 15:10 from Knock to London Gatwick (or any flight departing after this time
